Contents: Who needs Gynie L
  • Vaginal flora: description
  • Lactobacilli and their role in the balance of vaginal flora
  • Lactobacillus rhamnosus – main ingredient
  • Gynie L: description

World population: 6.8 bln

  • image
  • male/female: 50-50
  • 3.4 bln women

One billion women suffer from urinary tract or vaginal infections.

  • standard antibiotic therapy for the bacterial vaginosis is inefficient, therefore recurrences occur in 50% cases within 3 - 6 months after ending the treatment;
  • reoccur in 80% cases within 9 months;
  • high degree of incidence of post-therapy pathogenic bacterial proliferation.

One out of three women - bacterial vaginosis along time.

    High risk of:
  • pelvic inflammatory disease;
  • sexually transmitted diseases;
  • after surgery infections (e.g. hysterectomies);
  • premature birth;
  • endometriosis;
  • infertility
  • premature membrane tear.

There is a jungle down there.

Equilibrium of vaginal flora

    Mechanisms regulating the balance:
  • thick epithelium;
  • marked acidity: pH 3.8 – 4.2

Imbalance of vaginal flora

Alterations which affect the acid pH, resulting in a more alkaline environment. Factors:
  • antibiotics;
  • hormonal variations;
  • intra-vaginal interactions: vaginal irrigation, intra-vaginal medicines;
  • sexual intercourse, spermicides;
  • STD;
  • stress, deficient diet;
  • excessive vaginal hygiene;
  • foreign bodies;
  • alterations of immune function.

Lactobacilli

  • identified by Albert Döderlein, 1894;
  • over 125 species.
  • Friendly bacteria:
  • yogurt, cheese, pickles, beer, wine;
  • therapeutic properties, including anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer activities.
Major component of vaginal flora: over 90%
  • major action: protection, by generating H2O2, thus controlling the presence, colonization and growth of non-endogen micro organisms within vagina;
  • secondary action: regulating pH, by generating lactic acid.

Lactobacillus rhamnosus

  • isolated in 1985 from the intestinal tract of a healthy human being by two american physicists;
  • it tolerates the acid conditions of the stomach, and the bile acids of the small intestine, colonizing the digestive tract, and balancing intestinal microflora;

Lactobacillus rhamnosus and vaginal flora

  • protects the urogenital tract by excreting biosurfactants to inhibit the adhesion of vaginal and urinary pathogens;
  • releases acids, bacteriocins and H2O2 which inhibit the pathogen growth.
  • Active ingredient of Gynie L
